Remember The Milk: To-Do List App Reviews

Love the app, hate the lag time

I love RTM as a to do list tool. This new version lags a lot after updating groups of tasks, which is annoying. It also has had an issue with some of my tasks disappearing for no apparent reason, which defeats the whole purpose of a to do list! I cannot emphasize enough how annoying the lag time is!!! I just dropped a star from my review because it is ridiculous!

RTM Works for Me

Having worked with a number of Task Managers and Project Management apps, I have settled on Remember the Milk. RTM syncs immediately in the cloud and is available instantly on my mobile devices and desktop computer. Sub tasks are available with the Pro version, well worth the cost. Excellent documentation and support. Fjherrmann

Great update

August 1 2016 update - this a fantastic new update. You can now see the number of completed tasks, estimated time and incomplete tasks within the iOS app. --------------------- Love the new update for the iPhone. They have added a lot of new features that were already on the iPad version. Now the two are essentially the same app. I use RTM to track just about eVERYTHING!

Excellent mobile productivity

Ive used Remember The Milk since 2007, and their iOS app has been my favorite way to manage my tasks and stay on top of everything. I especially love the subtasks, drag and drop ordering, multi-edit, and quick navigation through the app. The Evernote integration is handy also.

Awesome sauce !!!

This app has literally saved my behind through college ! Without it I wouldnt have probably remembered to do half the stuff !

Great way to boost productivity

RTM is an overall great system for crossing off your major tasks. My three favorite parts are 1. How it works so seamlessly between the app and web version (and now a desktop app!) so I can instantly update tasks wherever I am. At first it wouldnt always refresh all changes on the iPhone app, but that issue has been fixed with updates. 2. I love the ability to add recurring tasks and not have to think about them (like watering the flowers, or sending out a monthly check). 3. I love the ability to estimate how long activities will take. Ive always had the issue of trying to cram my day with too much stuff and then I get exhausted. But Im good at estimating how long each individual task will take. This app is good at showing me if my plans for the day are overly ambitious!

If you are unsure about whether or not to get this:

I rated this app many years ago. I have left RTM for some time and have come back because no other system is so good at keeping me on task. The flexibility of how you want to use it still amazes me.

Great Task Manager - Nice Improvements

I use RTM every single day, and have for years, to help manage my EXTREMELY busy life. I have to have a task system with a Windows UI and an iOS App and RTM does both very well. The latest updates have made it even more beautiful and useful.

Almost perfect - and miles ahead of the competition

Ive used wunderlist, todoist, swipes, reminders, ticktick, any.do, etc. RTMs new incarnation is the best Ive found. Its easy to get my thoughts out and then simple to organize my tasks, update their status, schedule, and check them off. Syncing from my computer to my phone is seamless and customer service is great. The program is really flexible, and with a little "programming" you can get it to do pretty much whatever you want. Worth the $$ for pro!

A year later, simply indispensable!

Great update, really enjoy the new features and UI. Ive been using RTM for many years and once you get a system down, this will become a major part of your life. The smart lists and the endless customization potential are a big part of the RTM experience. They keep it simple and easy to use -- like Google does Gmail.

Love it but it needs an Apple Watch app

I have been a pro account user for 3 years and I love how it syncs across my devices and there are so many ways to put in reminders with shortcuts. BUT, I just got an Apple Watch and would love an app for that!

Great!

A great app. Does just what it claims to.

Best Ive Found So Far

I have fairly extensive experience with task management software. Im still bewildered by Microsofts lack of support for its task function in Outlook. At least RTM has robust smart lists (predefined queries), requirements for serious use of any task management system.

Needs updating along with web.

This is one of the only tasks app that allows weekly view so you can see how your week is stacked and you can assign them to that day FROM that day. Good feature. But, there are some definite drawbacks. First, it takes multiple touches or a hold down to complete a task. You should be able to slide or one touch it. Second, its old and clunky. It needs an updated look with some options. Third, web and iOS has always been a horrible match. They dont function together very well. Its a great concept that used to be groundbreaking in its versatility. But its fallen to the wayside.

It works….but has limittions

I’ve been a RTM Pro Member for 1+ years now. This is a review of the MilkSync for Microsoft Outlook (v1.0.26) product and how it syncs MS Outlook Tasks to an iPhone / iPad. The bottom line is that the product is helpful, unfortunately, there are several limitations that make it less than optimal. First off the sync is a two-step process – in step #1 you sync MS Outlook to the RTM Web App; in step #2 you sync the RTM Web App to the iPhone / iPad app. Unfortunately, the “pop-up” reminders available on the iPhone / iPad are limited based on how RTM syncs the MS Outlook data. Specifically, MS Outlook has 2 distinct “reminder” fields on a task – one for date and one for time. Within RTM, this information is stored in a single field titled Due. As a result, MilkSync accurately syncs the Outlook Reminder Date to the RTM Due field, however, the Outlook Reminder Time field is not captured anywhere, hence the “pop-up” reminders are not available on the iPhone / iPad. A workaround is to log into the RTM Web App and augment the RTM Due field with the time, however, this is time consuming and defeats the purpose of an automated sync. Finally, RTM states that they “reformat existing notes with a special syntax and strip off any additional formatting”. Unfortunately, this is not done on a consistent basis as in some cases the initial formatting is changed during the sync process while in others the initial formatting remains as is”. Like I said, the bottom line is that the product will indeed sync your MS Outlook tasks to your iPhone / iPad, however, the reminder notifications and formatting inconsistencies make it less than it could be.

Love it and the cute cow, too! : )

Been using RTM for many years now. The app breaks down all your tasks like you need: this week, today, and your various lists. Has reminders, recurring events and such. Ive tried others based on hype but this one is my tried and true!

Terrible update

The latest update was rather large and changed the entire look of this app. Seriously? I updated this on a Tuesday morning and spent part of the day just trying to figure out how to use the app. I finally went back to using my iPad with the old version on it so I would not waste my workday trying to figure out this app. I hate it. $39.99 for a pro account now? This is outrageous. The $24.99 was steep for what you provided. When my pro account expires in 48 days, I will be changing task apps. I have used RTM Pro for 4-5 years but $40 is just out of line.

WAS good!

They had a great app with good responsive support. Today they did an update. Trust me it was a down date! Wished I never updated. Destroyed the easy intuitive nature of app. Now hard to navigate. A case of trying to be and do too much!! First rule of life: keep it simple. Guess someone at RTM forgot that! Additionally now every time you go into a task you are reminded to upgrade to Pro version. Thanks but no thanks. Also support has now become a system generated response. Lovely. Only reason Im sticking with this app is because I have over 50 tasks in it!

Awesomeness!

Wow! This new update in unbelievable. In love with it. <3
